Education is the greatest gift that parents can bestow upon their children, for education is what sets one man apart from another. We can give our kids all the material belongings in the world, but none of those would ever come anywhere close to empowering them like good education can.
To most people, education is all about qualifications, job, and social stature. Someone with a fancy degree is far likelier to get a bigger paycheck than their less educated fellows. However, this is a very rudimentary take on education.
More than anything else, education is linked to morals and values. A good education means a robust sense of right and wrong. An educated person is far more useful to the society than someone who was deprived of schooling. And this where teachers come in, helping our kids grasp not only the trickiest bookish concepts, but also fine-tuning their personalities to the practicalities of life. They are the ones who impart to our young ones the importance of being kind, compassionate, and responsible.
This is not to say that parents play no role whatsoever in raising model citizens. Of course, the things a child observes and learns at home are no less critical to their growth. That said, no amount of domestic conditioning can replace the role played by a teacher, with all their professional and social skills, to ensure our children grow up to be diligent human beings.
