In the dim moonlight

Below the heaven’s eyes

She danced and danced

On the streets that lay by

Trying to change her sad destiny

Into the fairy clouds of beauty.

In the rain, when the thunder cried

She went on with her appealing glide

Her tattered dress had a distinct glow

As though blooming on the cactus were a tender rose

Trying to change her sad destiny

Into the fairy clouds of beauty.

The reign of sorrow stopped at last

A charming gentleman turned out to be her Romeo

Her smile shined in her dancing amber eyes

The gray-eyed man had picked the rose

Helping her change her sad destiny

Into the fairy clouds of beauty.
