Have you ever wondered why people read books with little to no illustrations? Well, I sure did. For me, reading was nothing but a way of killing time when I had nothing better to do. I thought books were boring, especially the ones without pictures. That was until I stumbled upon this novel in a library. Little did I know that it would change my very outlook on books.
It was a rainy day, and I was sitting in the library, looking for a fun, illustrated read. I was, of course, in no mood to read a novel. However, I picked one out of the sheer curiosity its cover triggered in me. It was a classic mystery novel, and I remembered having heard about it from my friends. To this day, I have no idea about what got into me, but I decided to give it a try.
As I started reading, I found myself getting engrossed in the story. The characters were well developed, and the plot was pretty interesting. It felt like I was watching a movie, only my mind was the screen on which it was playing. I was hooked, and I wanted to know what would happen next. And that, my friends, was the moment I discovered the magic of reading.
From that day, I started reading more. I read everything from Sherlock Holmes to Romeo and Juliet. Reading soon became my favorite pastime, and I was always looking for a new book to read. I am proud to say that I have read over a hundred novels so far, and I cannot imagine my life without books.
Novels have taught me everything, from emotions to family values. Some books delved even deeper, teaching me the meaning of life and the importance of family and loved ones. I have also read adventure novels and sci-fi books, which instantly transported me to another world.
I don’t think it’s possible to summarize the benefits of reading in just one article. It expands one’s vocabulary, improves their writing skills, and gives wings to their imagination. At the same time, it also reduces stress, improves memory, and boosts knowledge. And that’s not all – reading is also a great way of taking the occasional break from reality and going on adventures without stepping out of the house!
