SYNOPSIS

Dr. Kalam and Srijan Pal Singh take the readers on a fascinating journey into the realm of science and technology. They talk about the extraordinary achievements in the field and their possible impact on the future of mankind. They give us a glimpse into the exciting careers in various streams of science and technology. The authors also discuss some groundbreaking ideas that can motivate young readers to think out of the box and strive for excellence.

The paperback is divided into seven chapters, apart from the introduction and prologue. Each chapter deals with one stream of science and technology, namely robotics, aeronautics, pathologist, space science, neuroscience, materials science, and paleontology. Each chapter offers useful insights into the concerned field of study, the prerequisites to get into the specific discipline, the courses to study at the college and university levels, and the skills needed to become an expert in the field.

WHAT WE LIKED ABOUT REIGNITED

Reignited is written in an engaging question-and-answer format, which makes it is easy for readers of all ages to grasp the ideas presented therein. It consists of interesting stories, anecdotes, experiments, examples, and conversations with eminent personalities from different fields. The interesting images, neatly labelled diagrams, and photographs make the concepts much clearer to young readers.Β  Moreover, there is a note-to-parents section at the end of each chapter. This section specifies the different job opportunities and future prospects in each area of specialization. It guides parents on how they can help their young ones pursue a fruitful career and excel in the field of their choice.

Reignited also comes with an oath for aspiring professionals in each field of study. This oath pushes the students to reflect upon the contents of each chapter.

WHAT WE DID NOT LIKE ABOUT REIGNITED

The authors have only discussed seven fields of specialization. They could have probably covered a few more fields of science and technology to increase the scope of the book even further. While every chapter contains the history of the area in question, along with its applications and future prospects, some readers may find the information insufficient.

QUOTES

Great scientific minds are shaped early by unforgettable experiences… and some miracle moments.

Reignited merits a 4.5-star rating. It is a must-read for students, who are confused about what stream of study they should go for after tenth grade. The language is lucid and can be easily understood by young readers. The authors have strictly adhered to the comprehension level of their target audience – school-going children.
