SYNOPSIS

My Sister, the Serial Killer is the story of two sisters, Korede and Ayoola, who live in Lagos. Korede is the older sister and the narrator of the story. She is a nurse and is the ‘plain’ one, Ayoola being the prettier of the two. As a result, Ayoola isn’t short of suitors.

Ayoola kills her boyfriend in ‘self-defense’. Korede helps her clean up the crime scene and dispose of the body. Interestingly, this is the third boyfriend that Ayoola has murdered.

While doubtful of her sister’s side of the story, Korede still stands by her. She is constantly scared that the police will nab them. However, Ayoola moves on as though nothing ever happened. The story takes an unexpected turn as the doctor whom Korede loves secretly falls for Ayoola.

WHAT WE LIKED ABOUT MY SISTER, THE SERIAL KILLER

Contrary to what the title might suggest, My Sister, the Serial Killer is a dark comedy. The story is packed with witty lines and dark humor.

Excerpt from My Sister, the Serial Killer

Both the lead characters are interesting in their own way. The plot is unique in that it is the perfect blend of thrill, romance, suspense, workplace drama, and family dynamics. Like any good thriller, My Sister, the Serial Killer also comes with an element of surprise.

Ayoola’s character is that of a sociopath or probably a psychopath. On the other hand, Korede has a multi-faceted personality. By the end of the book, readers will be left wondering if Korede did what she did out of her love for Ayoola or if she, too, was a psychopath. One cannot help doubting if she actually enjoyed covering for her sister. This question is both gripping and chilling.

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER ABOUT MY SISTER, THE SERIAL KILLER

My Sister, the Serial Killer contains vivid descriptions of crime scenes, which some readers may find unsettling. While this is deliberate on the author’s part and helps take the story line forward, reader discretion is advised nonetheless.

QUOTES

Femi makes three, you know. Three and they label you a serial killer.

Ayoola inherited the knife from him (and by “inherited” I mean she took it from his possessions before his body was cold in the ground). It made sense that she would take it—it was the thing he was most proud of.

CONCLUSION
