SYNOPSIS
Love Stories that Touched my Heart is an anthology of short stories by debut authors. These stories portray different shades of love and are packed with a myriad of bittersweet emotions. The book contains twenty-five heart-warming stories, which leave the readers spellbound with their subtle undercurrents. Some stories are peppy and leave a smile on readers’ faces, while others are inspirational. As one would expect from a romantic anthology, the book also comes with its fair share of heartbreaking stories of ill-fated lovers.
The stories are handpicked and edited by Ravinder Singh from 2,000-odd entries received from all over the country, for a competition organized by Penguin Books. The 252-page book begins with an editor’s note and ends with a short introduction of the authors.
WHAT WE LIKED ABOUT LOVE STORIES THAT TOUCHED MY HEART
Since the book is a collection of short stories written by diverse authors, readers get to experience different writing styles in a single book. Some stories stand out due to their beautiful story line and crisp writing. Ravinder has done a good job at editing these stories and treating the readers to a heart-warming tapestry of love stories.
WHAT WE DID NOT LIKE ABOUT LOVE STORIES THAT TOUCHED MY HEART
Some stories are rather bland and boring. They follow the tried-and-tested tropes and are very predictable, to say the least. Since the stories were selected from a contest, one cannot help but feel that the selection committee could have done a better job at picking out love stories that readers could actually relate to.

CONCLUSION
Love Stories that touched My Heart is a light and easy read. Despite its predictability at times, the book is a must-read for diehard fans of love stories. Such readers will definitely relate to more than one story from the book, reminiscing about their own story.
The language is simple, so even first-time readers can easily make it to the end of the book without using a dictionary. A Train to My Marriage, The Divine Union, A Pair of Shoes and One-Night Stand in Hariharapuram were our favorites among the lot, so watch out for these while reading the book.
