Do you like reading? If not, then you should absolutely give it a try! How do I know? Well, I was in the same boat once.

It all changed when my friend suggested me to try reading, and so I did, albeit a bit reluctantly. It was Harry Potter. The book was, well, adventurous from the get-go. I even started imagining myself as the protagonist. It took me just three weeks to complete the whole set! And that is when it dawned on me that I had already become a reader.

The fact of having read an entire collection gave me both the confidence and liberty to choose what book to read next. While adventure had obviously become my favorite genre, I also had a thing for science-fiction. I would later go on to read books like The Lord of the Rings, Sita: Warrior of Mithila, Half Girlfriend, and The Science of Interstellar. I also studied religious epics such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Soon, books were not just my leisurely companions, but also my travel buddies.

To everyone who is yet to experience the magic of books, you should absolutely give them a try. If you feel books are totally not your thing, then try reading a book on a topic that interests you the most. I would suggest you to start with a book in a language that you best understand. It is also important to read your first book at a tranquil place, sans any disturbance and distractions.

When you read, you don’t just get a peek inside the author’s mind, but your own as well. Books feed both our vocabulary and creativity, not to mention our imagination. However, arguably the best thing about reading is the sense of satisfaction you get from completing a book. I experienced this first-hand when I was done reading the Harry Potter series.
