Dreams don't work unless you do. – John C. Maxwell

Dreams don’t work unless you do.

John C. Maxwell

Goals and aspirations are what set humans apart from other living beings. They give us a reason to live, to keep working hard, and to move forward in our lives. However, contrary to popular opinion, choosing what you want to make of your life is only half the job done.

As clichéd as it may sound, hard work is at the heart of all big things in life. We may dream as much as we like, but all of that will remain nothing but wishful thinking in the absence of any efforts to go with it. While the role or even the existence of luck remains debatable, it is safe to agree that hard work and perseverance are key to accomplishing a goal. A never-say-die attitude, coupled with a proactive approach, are also necessary ingredients in a savory recipe of success. Remember, big things come to those who go ahead and make things happen, instead of waiting for them to happen. Nobody will fight for your dreams – it is a battle in which you must go solo.

While your perseverance and industry may not yield immediate success, and may sometimes even see you run into unexpected roadblocks, they are bound to bear fruit sooner or later. So long as you are putting in the hard yards, you are getting closer to your dreams. It is all about making each day count, about making sure that you are a little bit closer to your goals than you were the day before. And before you know it, your dreams will have become part of your reality. In hindsight, it will make all the challenges, pain and obstacles you encountered along the way seem so much more meaningful.

John Calvin Maxwell is a well-know American author and motivational speaker. The following quote by him is quite relevant to the matter at hand: “Dreams don’t work unless you do.”
