Synopsis:

When twenty-five-year-old Takako’s boyfriend reveals that he is marrying someone else, she unwillingly accepts her oddball uncle’s offer to live rent-free. However, there is a catch – the room is a tiny space above his bookstore.

Hidden in Jimbocho, Tokyo, the Morisaki Bookshop is a bibliophile’s paradise. Located on a discreet corner in an old wooden building, the shop is home to countless second-hand books. It is uncle Satoru’s pride and joy. He has, in fact, devoted his life to the bookshop after his wife left him five years ago.

Hoping to heal her broken heart in that inconspicuous room, Takako is surprised to encounter new worlds within the stacks of books lining her uncle’s shop.

As summer gives way to the fall, Satoru and Takako discover that they have more in common than they first thought. The Morisaki Bookshop also ends up teaching them both a lot about life, love, and the healing power of books.

A must-read for people into Japanese fiction, Days at the Morisaki Bookshop will also appeal to readers of Before the Coffee Gets Cold and The Cat Who Saved Books, not to mention people looking for a self-help book to get over a heartbreak.
